Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta
Project Value: $1 Billion

Salisbury Village is a 36 acre (14.5 hectare) urban village development south of Wye Road in the County of Strathcona. It includes 12,672 sm of commercial development in an urban village configuration, with 1,200 units of diverse medium and high density multi-family residential units along with lower density live/work units and office and civic uses.

The highlight of the master plan is the retention of an existing wetland (environmental reserve) and watershed/watercourse incorporated into a municipal reserve public open space for local community and neighbourhood use.

Other innovative components of the sustainable design plan include an Eco-Centre for education and interpretation, an outdoor recreation centre to provide shelter for both winter and summer activities and a comprehensive nature trail network connecting to the adjoining neighbourhoods.

Architecture | Tkalcic Bengert played a primary role in assisting and supplementing the site specific zoning applications, public meetings and presentations to Strathcona County administration and council. Neighbourhood LEED® sustainable initiatives were a main focus of the development.
