Location: Edmonton, AB
Project Value: $7.7 Million

Architecture | Tkalcic Bengert (with Johnston Davidson Architecture + Planning) completed this 15,000 sq. ft. new station for the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Fire Rescue Department. The project design and construction meet the requirements of LEED-NC® Silver designation as defined by the CaGBC.

Key to the design was the siting of the building on a triangular site, incorporating an apron design for apparatus manoeuvring and turning, which allows for easy access of emergency vehicles exiting onto Ellwood Road and remains separate from the returning access along the adjacent Ellwood Drive. The site development also integrates sustainable materials, storm water bio-swales, and creates a much needed public green space at the rear of the site, which has been developed into a demonstration enviro-garden featuring local drought tolerant planting.
